LOCAL FERRY

Bruce Watt's boat the 'Western Isles', we affectionately all call “Brucie”, is our local passenger ferry service, with 2 sailings a day leaving Mallaig at 10.15 in the morning and 2.15 in the afternoon. During winter, the ferry runs 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) – and an extended service of 5 days a week from mid-May to mid-September (Monday through to Friday). However fast new water taxi services and other daily scheduled runs has opened Knoydart up, making it accessible 7 days a week for more information click here

The journey takes approximately 45 minutes although check return times as the ferry often returns via Tarbet, which means a longer journey where the return timing to Mallaig is approx 5.45pm where Tarbet sailings occur. It is a good idea to let Brucie know if you are intending sailing to Tarbet as they require to know numbers in advance if possible.
