For such a small community, Knoydart has a surprisingly fresh and vibrant culinary culture and dining out gives guests to this remote Scottish Peninsula the best chance to experience our local larders from the hill and the loch. From fresh creel caught langoustines and hand dived scallops, homegrown vegetarian options to local estate venison and fresh produce from our organic hill farm, there’s something for everyone.
Fresh Loch Nevis Seafood Platters for 2 Fresh local Loch Nevis creel caught langoustines and other local shellfish and seafood in a sharing platter for a minimum of two guests can be pre-ordered in advance of arrival and delivered to Knoydart House for a unique seafood experience in-house. Seafood Platters are shown in the pictures below. Please note that this requires to be pre-booked and depends on daily catch and availability of seafood. In House Meals – Our local caterer will provide fresh homemade in house meals delivered to your door, 2 and 3 course meals fixed price delivered on request please email us and we will send you the local caterers menu in advance of your stay.
The Old Forge Public House – Community owned pub and remoteset pub in mainland Britain – Guinness book of records! The Old Forge is our new community owned pub. The pub has just gone through an extensive refurbishment and new build project offering a great selection of local beers, Scottish produce and meals. Meal booking essential. The Knoydart Tearoom and Pottery During the day, the Tearoom serves homemade soups, sandwiches and cakes, plus drinks, including officially the best hot chocolate! The tearoom is open Mon-Fri . In addition to the delicious food, freshly made daily, the Pottery sells (as the name suggests!) gorgeous pottery and hand made jewellery. Local sisters, Isla and Rhona Miller, serve everything with an infectious smile and a winning sense of humour, that in itself will have you visiting again and again! Doune Dining – (April – October) Doune Dining Room offers a fixed meal including coffee. They are open for evening meals April to 1 Oct. One sitting per evening 7pm arrival pre- dinner drinks seated at 7.30pm. *Note Doune is 5.5 miles from the village and a TAXI is REQUIRED The taxi service for guests to get to Doune must also be pre-booked as they don’t offer a taxi service in season OR you can choose to walk there and taxi back or taxi return – TAXI (Please do pre-book your taxi well in advance eg at the same time as you book your dinner just to make sure the taxi is available for you that day/night.) Knoydart Brewery you can pre-order beer so its ready and awaiting your arrival in Knoydart Hide.Guests can pre-order any desired beer here Order Beer or phone on 01687462372. They will deliver beer to accommodation, before guests arrival or while they are here.They are able to send a link via email to make card payments. Their range of craft beers can be found on their Brewery Website Their beer is also sold in The Old Forge pub in the village, mainland Britain’s remotest pub! (10 mins walk from us)
