About Us - Ian, Jackie, Anna & Struan

Some twenty years ago East met West when we upped sticks from Aberdeen- shire and literally shipped over to Knoydart, back then boosting the population to 72! Better known for being in the pub, The Old Forge, mainland Britain’s remotest hostelry which we have run and grown up with, while sprouting a young family of or own, Anna now 8 and Struan 6 years tall!

Being coastal kids at heart we love the flow and ebb of Loch Nevis under those to die for west coast sunsets and star struck Milky Way!  The effort folks make to get here make the journey well rewarded on arrival and it’s the people who live here for a week, a day or a lifetime that make Knoydart such an interesting place to hang out. Tasting fresh scallops and langoustines from the loch, wild wood sorrel, pier caught mackerel awakened the taste buds. The folk music, fiddles and song tugged at our hearts and we were smitten.

Knoydart became our home and with family in different continents, NZ, Oz, Scotland, Canada our travels have allowed us to step out of the box and understand what makes a house a home. There really is no substitute for travel and Knoydart House evolved from a lifelong desire to create special self catering accommodation, more than just a holiday cottage on Knoydart but something very different, Knoydart House - true remote luxury.
